What We Believe

A Welcoming Church at the Heart of Jackson

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. (Gen. 1:1, 26 St. John 1:1-2, 14, Eph. 4:6, I John 5:7)

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16-17, I Peter 1:21, Matthew 3:15-17, II Corinthians 13-14)

We believe that Jesus Christ in the flesh was both God and man; that He was born of the Virgin Mary and that He lived a sinless life, in which He taught and wrought mighty works, wonders, and signs revealed in the Gospels; that He was crucified, died for our sins, and was raised from the dead body. Later He ascended to the Fathers right hand where He is the head of the Church, intercedes for believers, and shall return in a personal, visible and imminent manifestation. (Matthew 1:18, 21-23, Hebrews 4:15, Matthew 28:6, Matthew 16:18, Acts 1:11, I Thess. 4:16-17))

We believe in salvation through the redeeming blood of Christ by repentance to God. We are justified by our faith in Jesus Christ and our confession of His Lordship in our lives. We believe that such salvation is entirely apart from good works, baptism, church membership, or our efforts and is of pure grace. (Hebrews 9:22, Romans 10:9-10, 13, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23)

We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides divine healing for us in answer to believing prayer. (I Peter 2:24, Psalms 103:2-3, James 5:15)

We believe that a true believer is eternally secure, that we cannot lose our salvation, but that sin will interrupt the joy of our fellowship with God and bring the loving chastisement of our Heavenly Father. (John 10:28-30, John 3:16, Romans 8:1 Eph. 4:30)

We believe that it is the goal of every believer to grow in spiritual maturity through obedience to the Word of God, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and submission to Spiritual authority. (John 10-10, Ephesians 3:20, 4:11-16, Philippians 4:13)

We believe that the Holy Spirit has given gift(s) to all believers and that these gifts are to be developed through manifestation and used as we engage in spiritual warfare. (I Cor. 12 Rom. 11:29, II Cor. 10:4-6)

We believe in water baptism and the observance of the Lord’s Supper. ( Matthew 3:13-17,John 22:19-20, Mark 14:22-24, Matthew 26:26-28, Matthew 28:19-20 I Cor. 11:23-29)

We believe that marriage between a man (male) and woman (female) as stated in the scriptures. (Gen. 1: 26-28, 2:18-25, I Cor. 7, Eph. 5: 21-33, Col. 3:18-19)
